Frequently asked questions.
What is your service area?
We currently service SoCal, focused in the Long Beach area including but not limited to Los Alamitos, Lakewood, Cerritos, Seal Beach, Cypress, Bellflower, Norwalk, Signal Hill, and beyond. This is a small business and we are expanding, so feel free to ask if we service your address by sending me a message!
Why should I choose Love & Paws?
It’s in the name: because I do everything with LOVE! I am committed to ensuring that both my doggie clients and human clients are happy by prioritizing safety, fun, and communication. Plus, you’re supporting a woman-owned, legally operated and insured, small business.
What are the requirements for service?
Starting July 2023, all new clients must fill out a client and pet information form. This form stores contact information and important information about your pets like medications, allergies, etc. All dogs need to be up to date on vaccines and on a flea preventative treatment. Dogs must be socialized and non-aggressive towards dog-walkers. For daycare/sitting, dogs must be dog friendly and socialized. If your dog is food, toy, lap possessive, that’s totally normal. We can mediate situations as long as we are made aware beforehand! A meet and great is required for all dog walks.
How do you accept payment?
Accepted payment methods are Paypal, Zelle, cash, or check. Credit/debit card payments will soon be available through Stripe but there is a 3% service charge.
Are tips customary?
Tips are not required but much appreciated! Most come to around 10% of the total, but are entirely up to your discretion if you choose to tip.
Do you offer pick up/drop off?
Yes! Pick up/drop offs are available for $5 one way within 10 miles.
Do you offer pack walks?
No. For the safety of your pets, I do not offer pack walks or group walks with dogs from other households. This lets me give your pups all my attention! If you are a multiple dog household, I will walk up to 3 dogs at once or each pup can have their own solo walk!
How many dogs do you have for daycare/dogsitting?
To provide the most personal attention to your pets, I have no more than 5 dogs at a time. I keep it small on purpose– it’s safer, cozier, and we all get to be best friends faster!
Do you have a size or weight limit?
At this time, I do not offer walks or drop ins for dogs over 65 lbs, and daycare or sitting for dogs over 30 lbs.
My dog is “leash reactive.” Will you still walk them?
Yep! Lots of dogs are leash reactive and I’m still happy to walk them. I practice a double loop leash technique and two-handed technique so I have a firm grip. As I get to know your dog's triggers, I can practice avoidance on walks to have the most comfortable experience possible!
What are your hours of operation?
Services are offered Monday-Sunday and some holidays! Calendar is subject to change. Please inquire about specific dates and scheduling. Hours for daycare/sitting is flexible— I understand that several professions require nightshifts or long shifts and I can work with you to find a solution that best fits your needs.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Yes! You can cancel service free of charge with at least 24 hour notice. Cancelling with less than 24 hours notice will incur a $15 cancellation fee.
“No Call” Cancellations will be charged the full amount of service.
If you cancel with less than 24 hour notice often, I may decide to terminate services with you. When you book service with me, I’m holding a slot for you and your pet. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, I will likely not be able to fill that slot.
Do you have a referral program?
Yep! If you refer a friend and they book a service, you will receive a $20 discount on your next booking and your friend will receive a $20 discount on their first service.
